OSSD, Overspeed Shut Off Detector
The Overspeed Shutoff Detector contains a Flanged Housing and Plunger Assembly which is actuated when the engine becomes unstable. This will cause contact with the Plunger Assembly pushing it into the Frangible Link and fracturing it. This shuts off the signal controlling the fuel, shutting down the engine avoiding catastrophic failure.
The OSSD device is designed for one time usage.
